Product Overview

Type: Black
Packaging: Bag
Origin: China
Description: Yun Nan classic 58 black tea is from Feng Qing, Yunnan province. Yunnan is a region in China known for producing excellent black tea. Yunnan black is famous for its fat golden buds and Yunnan Black Tea has a high concentration of these golden buds. The color of Yunnan black tea is a reddish brown color. The aroma is strong honey and floral with a slight roasted undertone. The taste is smooth and sweet and the aftertaste is refreshing and clean.

This is a well-rounded, multi-layered, exceedingly tasty black tea made from older tea bushes and processed in Yunnan's classic Dian Hong style. Leaf/bud sets were hand-picked and expertly processed into this classic style of Dian Hong first mastered by the Feng Qing tea factory in 1958.

Our wild Fengqing Classic 58 Black Tea – a top grade selection with a high ratio of golden tips due to its high picking standard of 1 bud with only 1 adjacent leaf each, comes from the tradition-rich Yunnan Fengqing Dianhong Tea Factory founded in 1939, which is famous for producing the highest quality Yunnan black tea. The manually picked buds and leaves from remote forest in Yunnan are straight in shape. The tea’s clear and bright orange-red liquor pleases with the distinct fresh and mellow, intensely sweet cocoa/chocolate-like aroma and taste that is characteristic for this tea. In distinction to lower quality Yunnan black teas, our top grade Fengqing Classic 58 Black Tea from Gengqing has only little or no astringency at all even with longer infusion periods, making it tempting to get the full taste from a longer infusion rather than infusing it Gong Fu style aiming at a larger range of mellow, but nevertheless tasteful infusions.

The taste of "Classic 58 Dian Hong" is a little bit malty, floral, honey -sweet and chocolate flavor. Very textured taste, pungent aroma and long-lasting feeling in the mouth! If you like the black tea without bitterness, smooth, with a hint of honey flavor, this will be a very good breakfast tea.

Brewing Guide: the water temperature to infuse Fengqing Classic 58 Black Tea should be 90C° or above. We recommend using 3-5 grams on ca. 250ml water and try both ways of preparation below.
The western style, employing a 3-4 minutes infusion period for your first steep, followed by another 5 minutes for a full taste second infusion.
The Chinese Gong Fu style, starting with no more than one minute for a first infusion and producing a sequence of 5-6 infusions by adding ca. ½ minute for each consecutive steep.
