Yunnan Oolong Tea introduces the original Qingxin (green heart) Oolong variety from Taiwan. It not only makes use of Taiwan’s excellent tea tree varieties and advanced tea-making technology, but also benefits from the high mountain and humid climate environment of Teng Chong, Yunnan, and the geographical advantage of 2100 meters above sea level.

Yunnan Oolong Tea Has its unique quality and taste. The specialty of the leaves of Yunnan oolong is thick and tender, the tea leaves are green and shiny, the taste is pure and smooth, with a light floral fragrance, the flavor is unique like sweet-scented osmanthus, finishes with a long-lasting lingering taste.

This high mountain oolong tea comes from Teng Chong. Teng Chong is a county-level city of Baoshan City, western Yunnan province, People's Republic of China. It borders Myanmar in the northwest for 151 km (94 mi). By road, it is 650 km (400 mi) west of the provincial capital, Kunming, and 170 km (110 mi) westward from Baoshan's urban area.

Teng Chong Oolong is a very floral lightly oxidized oolong. Tightly rolled leaves produce a bright light liquor with a lovely honeysuckle fragrance. The flavor profile is smooth and light, with a taste that is floral and sweet with a slightly creamy finish. The aroma of the roasted one is richer. The tea after baking has a light fruity and honey fragrance, the taste is fuller and is more infusion-enduring. If you like Taiwan high mountain oolong and want to try something beyond the simple floral fragrance, this one might be a good choice.

The light roasting makes it the ideal cold brew tea for summer or spring days. You can prepare it in the morning, watch the leaves slowly unfurl in a tall glass jar, and enjoy it in the afternoon.

Brewing Guide: Brew the tea at a temperature between 195-205° F for about 4-5 minutes. The first rinse of this tea is optional. Subsequent steeps can be shorter, approximately 2-3 minutes. Each serving can be brewed 4-5 times. Using the gongfu method you’ll taste how the tea changes with each steep, allowing the flavors to develop as the tea opens up.

Cold-brew method: Using cool water, rinse 2 heaped teaspoons of Teng Chong oolong leaves. Drain, then place the rinsed leaves in a clean, large-sized jar or similar container. Next, pour in 750 ml to one liter (3 to 4 standard cups) of cool, filtered water. Place in the fridge for 3 to 4 hours, allowing the leaves to fully unfurl. It’s now ready to enjoy.
