Product Overview

Jin means “gold” in Chinese. Jin Jun Mei is made entirely of early spring buds from the tea plant which have a golden appearance after processing. It is harvested once a year, and only tea from tea trees in the Wuyi Mountain National Nature Reserve can make the unique quality of authentic Jin Jun Mei. Hand-picked from only the buds of the tea plant, it takes thousands of buds just to make a single pound of finished tea.

Our signature Jin Jun Mei is a special kind of Lapsang Souchong of especially valuable bud tea in which only the budding tips of tea leaves are used. It is made from small shoots plucked in early spring. It has leaves of small size and brown color, finely processed, with numerous golden buds. The dry leaves showcase short twisty buds with downy, golden tips.

The liquor is golden, transparent, and clear, with a golden circle. Every brew reveals a flavor reminiscent of the rocky, mineral-rich terroir it is from, with low astringency and an exotic fragrance that fills the air.  Our Jin Jun Mei is light-bodied, honey-sweetened forward, with mouth-filling malts and leaves and a lingering piney aftertaste. Should you taste it after properly brewing, the tea buds of Jin Junmei remain soft, and uniform in bright red color, while the tea itself renders a mellow yet fruity taste that can bring any flustered mind to a calm, relaxed state. These fully oxidized shoots give the tea a long-lasting aftertaste.

Brewing Guide: Brew 5 grams with 100 ml of water at 90 °C. Steep for 5 seconds and add 5 seconds for each next infusion.
