Description:

This handmade rolled Yunnan white tea is cultivated in a traditional manner by the celebrated Simao tea garden on the misty hillsides of the mountains of Yunnan and boasts large, sundried leaves. Renowned for its refreshing and incredibly fragrant.

It is a relatively recent invention made using Yunnan’s “big leaf” varietal, the buds of which are so large, that you can clearly see and feel the silvery white hairs on them. This white fur on the buds is a feature you often see with teas grown at high elevations. The buds are the most prized part of the plant, as they are full of antioxidants and contribute a delicate sweetness to the finished tea.

When steeped in hot water, these sticks slowly expands and unfurls into leaves and exquisite flavors. Each stick consists of a bundle of dried tea leaves. These are made by rolling tea leaves together and are then set to dry.

Large silver buds produce a bright champagne-colored liquor with a vegetal aroma. The clean, smooth taste has vegetal notes of spinach and cucumber with a sweet, lightly woody aftertaste. Yunnan Jade Pillar Tea is silky sweet, with a surprising depth of flavor that lasts for multiple infusions.

Brewing Guide: Place 2-3 sticks in a clear, medium sized glass tea pot or tempered glass pitcher. Pour 170º F water into the glass container. Watch for 3-5 minutes as it unfurls. Good for multiple infusions.
