Product Overview

Keemun is one of China's and the world's most famous black teas. This black tea is from Anhui, a province that has a very long history of growing green tea. Keemun Gong Fu is grown in Qimen, the original site of Keemun, and the picking consists of bud and one to two leaves. The fresh leaves for making this tea grew in the original producing area of Keemun tea, at an average elevation of 800 m above sea level. The one bud with one leaf is hand-plucked for making this tea around the Chinese season of Qing Ming in the early spring days. These fresh first-plucking leaves for making are loaded with nutrients and hence the finished dry leaves are neat and bold with a high percentage of tiny golden tips.

These loose-leaf tea leaves are tight, thin and wiry. The dark chocolate brown leaves have a beautiful luster and give an aromatic and elegant infusion with hints of chocolate, hardwood and a subtle floral. The golden bud is bright, they are almost completely black in color, and once infused produces a brilliant amber infusion.

It has a sweet fruity and floral taste lighter than other black teas allowing the sweetness to shine through. There is crisp almost pine-like undertones that mix beautifully with the floral flavors. It really is a full-bodied, thick, tea with characteristic stone fruit and slightly smoky notes in the aroma and a gentle malty, non-astringent taste reminiscent of unsweetened cocoa.

Brewing Guide: add 1 teaspoon of tea leaves to 8 ounces of purified or spring water. Brew it in water that is 194 ºF (90 ºC) for 2 to 5 minutes.
