Product Overview

Keemun Hong Xiang Luo tea comes from Anhui Province, China. Keemun tea dates back to the mid-1800s and was produced following techniques that were used to produce Fujian black tea for centuries. The same small leaf cultivar used to produce the famous green tea Huangshan Mao Feng is also used to produce all Keemun tea.

Keemun Hong Xiang Luo is a new type of Keemun Black Tea, created in 1997 by Anhui Tea Research Institute. The creation changed the traditional cute straight tea body of Keemun Black Tea into the curly snail type of tea body, inspired by the Song Luo green tea, from the county Xiu Ning close to Keemun County.

The tea adopts the fresh leaf material of Qihong plucked in the timing between Qing Ming and Gu Yu, follows the outline processing, withering-rolling-fermentation-charcoal baking. Once upon creation, this tea has been popular in the market and got awarded in the tea competitions.

Our Keemun Hong Xiang Luo comes with curly leaves. Upon brewing, it yields a beautiful dark copper liquor that is superbly refreshing, with a slight smokiness and notes of sugar cane and red wine. The tea is smooth and malty with low astringency and is often compared to the flavor of cocoa.

Brewing Guide: Scoop a level teaspoon of tea into an infuser. Heat water to 190° F (before boiling). Pour 8 oz. of water over tea leaves. Steep tea for 3-5 minutes (depending on taste preference). Remove the infuser and enjoy tea.
