Product Overview

Pu-erh tea buds are a special and unique tea. They are collected from wild-growing tea trees in Yunnan Province. Every spring, when young buds ripen on tea trees, Chinese pickers go to the local tropical forests behind the shoulders with large baskets. For hours, they collect young buds to dry them in the sun. The time window for the harvest is very short, just an experienced person can decide if the buds are ready. On the other hand, if you wait too long, you lose them. The buds are perfect only at a certain level of maturity and you have a few days only for plucking. Tea buds do not require further processing. This is probably the most natural of all known teas. The buds are plucked from the same tea tree from which tea leaves are collected for the production of Puer.

Most of the tea buds are white and some of them are purple. Red buds are rare. These buds are plucked from what is known as wild trees located in the Lincang area. The trees are alleged ancestors of the Camellia Sinensis plant. They are made with ancient buds growing in the wild and handpicked in the high mountains of Yunnan.

Red-billed Quelea is simply sun-dried, and yields an almost clear bright liquor, with a sweet, heady fragrance, a mild flavor and surprisingly complex flavors of light wood, earthiness, pine and hops with a long-lasting soothing flowery sweetness.

Brewing GuideUse 1 tablespoon per 6 oz cup/pot or or (3-4 grams of tea per 8 oz of water). Heat water until boiling. Let steep 3-4 minutes. Good for multiple infusions. Add a little more time for each subsequent infusion.
