Product Overview
Our premium American ginseng roots are grown in the pristine high altitude regions of the Yunnan Plateau, an area renowned for its clean environment, abundant sunshine, fertile mountain soils, and significant day-to-night temperature variations. These unique growing conditions allow the roots to develop slowly over many years, producing dense, well-formed roots with a rich aroma, concentrated flavor, and exceptional quality.
All of our ginseng is cultivated using environmentally friendly farming practices without harmful chemicals and is naturally grown from start to harvest. The roots are never sulfur fumigated, preserving their natural appearance, aroma, and authentic character. When opened, the roots reveal the clean, distinctive fragrance of genuine American ginseng rather than the artificial odor often associated with chemically treated products.
We offer nine age grades ranging from 6-year-old to 15-year-old roots. Unlike ordinary commercial ginseng harvested after only a few years of growth, these high altitude aged roots remain in the ground for much longer periods, allowing them to develop larger bodies, denser structure, and greater maturity. Older roots are significantly rarer due to the longer cultivation cycle, making them highly sought after by experienced ginseng enthusiasts, collectors, and gift buyers.
Root size is another important indicator of quality and rarity. Our selection includes roots ranging from approximately 5 grams per root to over 50 grams per root. Large roots require many years of uninterrupted growth and favorable natural conditions to achieve their impressive size. As a result, larger roots are considerably rarer and more valuable than smaller grades. Some of our premium selections exceed 50 grams per individual root, making them particularly desirable for collectors and those seeking exceptional presentation quality.
Unlike many commercial products where roots of different sizes are mixed together, every root in our collection is individually hand-selected and carefully graded according to age, weight, thickness, shape, and overall appearance. Each grade is sorted to ensure a consistent and uniform presentation. This meticulous process results in roots that are noticeably more organized, attractive, and consistent than the mixed-size roots commonly found on the market.
To provide a more substantial and premium product, we remove the fine feeder roots and fibrous side roots, retaining only the main root body. Many ginseng products leave these small roots attached to increase weight, but they can be fragile, unattractive, and contribute little to the overall presentation. By removing them, we ensure that customers receive the most valuable portion of the root. The result is a cleaner appearance, better uniformity, easier storage, and a more honest representation of the product's true quality.
This product is sold as whole, uncut roots rather than slices. Keeping the roots intact helps preserve their natural aroma, appearance, and long-term storage quality. Whole roots are also preferred by many collectors and gift buyers because of their impressive visual appeal. Customers may slice the roots according to their own preferences and intended use.
One of the most distinctive characteristics of these high altitude aged roots is their rich ginseng flavor and long-lasting natural sweetness. The taste begins with a pleasant bitterness followed by a smooth, lingering sweet aftertaste that remains long after consumption. Even after multiple infusions, the roots continue to release their characteristic aroma and flavor.
Compared with many mass-produced American ginseng roots grown under highly mechanized farming systems, Yunnan Plateau American ginseng benefits from a longer growing cycle, careful cultivation practices, strict hand selection, and unique high altitude conditions. The combination of abundant sunlight, cool mountain temperatures, and significant day to night temperature differences contributes to dense root structure, pronounced aroma, and a satisfying lingering sweetness. These qualities, combined with our large-root selection standards and removal of feeder roots, make this product an outstanding choice for personal use, gifting, and collection.
As a natural agricultural product, each root is unique. Variations in weight, shape, length, color, texture, and branching patterns are normal and reflect the natural growth process. Every root is carefully inspected before shipment to ensure it meets the standards of its designated age and size category.

How to use: American ginseng can be enjoyed in several traditional ways. The roots may be sliced thinly and taken directly by mouth, allowing the natural flavor to slowly develop. They may also be steeped in hot water, with the slices consumed after several infusions. Many customers use sliced ginseng in soups, broths, and slow-cooked dishes together with chicken, pork, or other ingredients. The roots may also be ground into powder or used for preparing ginseng-infused spirits according to personal preference.
