Description: Assam is the "Burgundy" of teas (Darjeeling is the "Champagne") because it is rich, deep in color and full bodied. Its malty essence delivers a long, caramel-like finish. Some say Assam improves with a bit of whole milk which draws out the subtler notes; others claim it is creamy enough on its own. Try it both ways.

Bold, malty, and sophisticated - this esteemed organic assam is from the renowned Jalinga Estate. Rich honey notes emerge from the amber liquor. Also less astringent than traditional assam, the smooth sweet character of these slightly larger leaves deliver a clean brew with less tannin. Easy to brew properly, this tea produces a consistently blissful cup that will transport you to India's Assam Valley.

Assam Tea is generally known for being a brisk strong tea, with small broken leaves being a feature of blended teas such as English and Irish Breakfast Tea.

Our house Assam Tea has the same bright colour you associate with Assam, but as a flowery orange pekoe whole leafed tea it has a smoother, more delicate flavour.

TEMP: The ideal temperature is 90-95ºC (194-205ºF), which is just below the boiling point. You can just boil the water using a simple stove-top kettle and then let it cool for 20 seconds.
