Product Overview

Ya'an Tibetan Tea is a traditional Chinese dark tea from Ya'an, Sichuan, known for its rich fermentation character and traditional processing methods. This tea is made from tea leaves grown in misty mountain areas, where the cool mountain climate, frequent mist, and natural temperature variations allow the tea plants to grow slowly and develop a rich composition of natural compounds. These characteristics make the leaves particularly suitable for the long fermentation and traditional processing used to produce Tibetan Tea.

This tea is made as a fully fermented dark tea and undergoes five major processing stages and 32 traditional processing steps. The entire production process takes approximately six months. The extended fermentation and processing gradually transform the character of the tea, reducing the fresh, grassy notes of the original leaves while developing a deeper, smoother, and more mature flavor profile.

The finished tea has a deep, mature aroma. Once brewed, it produces a clear, bright red liquor with a rich color and a smooth appearance. The aroma is mellow and rounded, with noticeable woody notes accompanied by a warm, mature fermented-tea character. The woody aroma is natural to the tea rather than being artificially flavored. It gives the tea a distinctive earthy and forest-like character, adding depth to the overall aroma.

The flavor is full-bodied, smooth, and mellow, with prominent woody notes, mature tea aromas, and a gentle sweetness. Rather than emphasizing floral or fresh vegetal aromas, this tea focuses on deeper and warmer flavors. The liquor has a satisfying thickness without being overly sharp or astringent, making it easy to drink over a longer period. As the tea cools slightly in the cup, the woody character and mellow fermented notes become particularly noticeable.

With continued brewing, the tea develops a deeper and richer body while retaining its smooth character. The later infusions tend to become softer and rounder, with the woody aroma blending into a gentle mature tea sweetness. Its substantial flavor and good infusion endurance make it suitable for both casual daily drinking and longer tea sessions.

This tea is especially suitable for those who enjoy traditional Chinese dark teas, ripe Pu-erh, Liu Bao Tea, or other fully fermented teas with earthy, woody, and mature flavor profiles. It is also an excellent choice for drinkers who prefer a darker, warmer, and more substantial tea rather than a fresh and highly floral style.

Brewing Guide:
Use approximately 5–8g of tea per 100–150ml of water. Rinse the tea briefly once with 95–100°C (203–212°F) water, then discard the rinse. Brew with freshly boiled water for about 30 seconds for the first infusion, gradually increasing the steeping time to 40–60 seconds for subsequent infusions according to taste. The tea is quite suitable for multiple infusions. For a stronger and fuller cup, use more tea or extend the steeping time.

This tea can also be prepared by boiling. Add 5–8g of tea to approximately 500–800ml of water. Bring to a boil, then reduce the heat and simmer for about 3–5 minutes. Boiling produces a deeper, fuller, and smoother liquor and brings out the woody and mature fermented aromas particularly well.
