Astaxanthin is a powerful carotenoid widely found in Haematococcus pluvialis, shrimp, crabs, salmon, and other marine organisms, known for its exceptional antioxidant properties. Haematococcus pluvialis is recognized as the best natural source of astaxanthin, with a significantly higher content than other sources. Our astaxanthin is derived from the Haematococcus Pluvialis Astaxanthin Industrial Base in Chuxiong, Yunnan, where abundant sunlight and pristine water conditions provide an optimal environment for algae growth and astaxanthin accumulation.
Our natural algae-derived astaxanthin differs from synthetic astaxanthin. Natural astaxanthin contains the 3S,3'S stereoisomer, the bioavailable form that the human body can directly absorb and utilize. In contrast, synthetic astaxanthin is derived from petrochemical sources, has a different molecular structure, lower bioavailability, and significantly weaker antioxidant effects.
The extraction process includes the following steps: first, Haematococcus pluvialis is cultivated in photobioreactors or open ponds under optimized light, nutrient, and temperature conditions to promote rapid growth. Then, under stress conditions such as high light exposure and nutrient limitation, the algae enter a dormant phase and accumulate a high concentration of astaxanthin, turning from green to red. The algae are then harvested using centrifugation or filtration, followed by cell wall disruption through high-pressure homogenization, ultrasound, or enzymatic hydrolysis to enhance astaxanthin release. Next, astaxanthin is extracted using supercritical CO₂ extraction. Finally, chromatography purification and molecular distillation are applied to concentrate astaxanthin, and the final product is processed into a stable astaxanthin powder through spray drying.
The final astaxanthin product has a concentration of 10%, making it ideal for dietary supplements, functional foods, cosmetics, and animal feed applications. It ensures high bioavailability, exceptional antioxidant performance, and long-term stability. After being solubilized, it is more suitable for water-based products. our astaxanthin can be evenly dispersed in water, improving its bioavailability and absorption rate in the human body.
Health Benefits
Astaxanthin is one of the most powerful natural antioxidants known, with the following benefits:
Potent Antioxidant: Its antioxidant capacity is 6,000 times that of Vitamin C, 550 times that of Vitamin E, and 10 times that of β-carotene, effectively scavenging free radicals and slowing aging.
Eye Protection: Reduces blue light damage, alleviates eye fatigue, and helps prevent macular degeneration.
Skin Health & Anti-Aging: Reduces UV damage, promotes collagen production, improves skin elasticity, and diminishes wrinkles and pigmentation.
Immune System Support: Enhances T-cell and B-cell activity, strengthening immune function.
Brain & Cognitive Health: Crosses the blood-brain barrier, reducing oxidative damage in the brain, improving memory and focus, and combating neurodegenerative conditions.
Cardiovascular Protection: Lowers LDL oxidation, reduces the risk of atherosclerosis, and improves lipid metabolism.
Joint & Anti-Inflammatory Benefits: Helps reduce inflammation, alleviating joint pain and stiffness.
Sports Performance & Recovery: Reduces muscle damage caused by exercise, speeds up recovery, and enhances endurance.
How to use
Dietary Supplements: Used in capsules, softgels, and tablets. The recommended daily dosage is typically 2g.
Food Additive: Incorporated into functional foods, beverages, and energy bars for enhanced antioxidant benefits.
Cosmetics: Added to skincare creams, serums, and sunscreens to boost skin protection against oxidation and UV damage.
