Product Overview

As the name suggests, this tea is cultivated in Cambodia. Cambodian Black Tea has existed for hundreds of years in the form of chopped leaves. It is produced from a tea garden in the North of the country. The tea is a smoked tea with the aroma of campfire smoke. Smoked tea is quite literally, tea that has been smoked over a fire. The most popular variety is Lapsang Souchong from China. However, Cambodian black is different. Lapsang Souchong has a strong smoky flavor while Cambodian black has less pronounced smoke and is more balanced. If you haven’t tried smoked tea, you’re missing out on this brew's campfire aroma and rich, velvety texture. It’s not a bitter-tasting tea. The flavour is sweeter than you’d expect and the smoke brings out some of the natural sweetness in the tea leaf. Whisky drinkers in particular tend to love this tea and it’s strong enough in flavour to take with milk and sugar if desired.

This Black tea variant has a slightly smoky flavor, complimented with a unique honey-like sweetness. It also tasted of leather and wood, with a faint fruit note, maybe cherry, and surely those were just from the tea. The flavor profile doesn’t stop there – these teas can also hint at tobacco, and malt, making each sip a delightful surprise.

If you are used to a morning blend or Assam tea, Cambodian black tea may come as a real surprise. With much more sweetness and a completely different flavor profile, Cambodian can be a perfect dessert tea and a perfect choice for a soothing afternoon cup.

Brewing Guide: Use 1 teaspoon of tea for every 8 oz. of hot water. Adjust amount to your preferences. The ideal water temperature is between 190-212°F. Brew for 3 to 5 minutes.
