Product Overview

Marukyu Koyamaen is a well-known Japanese tea brand renowned for its high-quality tea products. Its Hojicha, Genmaicha, and Sencha tea bag assortment each have distinct characteristics, catering to different taste preferences. This set contains one each of high-quality tea bags of Hojicha, Genmaicha and Sencha, which are convenient to carry around and also make a great gift. This product is a high-quality Uji teabag made by cutting Uji tea that has been specially blended for teabags and is designed to bring out the best color and flavor.

Hojicha is made by roasting Sencha or Bancha at high temperatures, resulting in reddish-brown tea leaves with a rich, roasted aroma. It has a mild taste with low bitterness, featuring caramel and nutty flavors with a sweet aftertaste. Due to its low caffeine content, it is suitable for evening consumption or for children and the elderly. For brewing, it is recommended to use boiling water at 100°C, steeping one tea bag in 200ml of water for 30 seconds to 1 minute, adjusting based on personal preference. Hojicha is also excellent for cold brewing—simply place a tea bag in cold water and refrigerate for 2 to 6 hours for a refreshing and sweet tea.

Genmaicha is a blend of Sencha or Bancha with roasted brown rice, creating a unique combination of green tea and toasty rice aroma. It has a mellow and rich taste, balancing the fresh notes of green tea with the sweetness of roasted rice, making it an excellent companion to Japanese cuisine. With a moderate caffeine level, it is suitable for daily consumption. For brewing, use hot water at boiling water at 100°C, steeping one tea bag in 200ml of water for 30 seconds to 1 minute. Cold brewing takes about 4 to 6 hours, resulting in a smoother and sweeter flavor.

Sencha undergoes a steaming process to preserve its fresh, grassy aroma, producing a bright green tea liquor. It has a refreshing and umami-rich taste with a balance of sweetness and mild bitterness, leaving a lingering aftertaste. Rich in polyphenols and amino acids, it is one of the most popular green teas in Japan. For brewing, use hot water at 80°C-90°C to prevent damage to its delicate flavors, steeping one tea bag in 200ml of water for 30 seconds to 1 minute. Sencha is also great for cold brewing, requiring 4 to 6 hours for a naturally sweet and less astringent taste.
