Product Overview

Type: Oolong
Origin: China
Description:

Wuyi Rock tea comes from the rocky, mineral-rich soil on the Wuyi Mountains. The Wuyi Mountains are in the north-western part of the Fujian province of China. They are a collection of jagged-edged peaks, almost always shrouded in clouds and fog. There are hundreds of tea plant varietals and cultivars planted in these rock gaps and surrounded by cliffs and lush vegetation. Some famous varietals such as Da Hong Pao, Tie Luo Han, Bai Ji Guan and Shui Jin Gui and other popular ones like Shui Xian, Rou Gui. Each type of Rock Tea has its own unique characteristics, from the appearance of the leave, the style and nuance of productions creating this highly sophisticated classical category among the world of tea and producing warm and complex aromas and flavors.

Yellow Rose (Huang Mei Gui) is a hybrid of the Yellow Goddess (Huang Guan Yin) and Golden Osmanthus (Huang Jin Gui) cultivars and is a relatively new and lesser-known type of Rock Oolong tea that was developed by the Tea Research Institute of Fujian Academy of Agricultural Sciences.

Expertly roasted using a local cultivar, it produces a satisfying cup with a roasted floral aroma. The complex flavor has floral and honey notes with a roasted, mineral taste. This is a well-balanced tea that’s sweet and floral with the mineral-like qualities that are typical of Wuyi Rock Teas, with the aroma of roses.

Yellow Rose has quite a complex and rich taste where the dried fruit’s sweetness and roasted notes are predominant. A lighter, more delicate style of Rock Tea, serves as a great introduction to this style of oolong tea. There is also a light floral characteristic and a well-defined mineral part.

Brewing Guide: Place one teaspoon per cup into an infuser, filter or teapot. Switch the kettle off, before it boils, when you hear the water rumbling. Add the hot, but not boiling, water and infuse for 3 minutes. Serve immediately or remove leaves to prevent spoiling.
