Description: A standout example from China’s foremost black tea region, Yunnan Gold appeals to gourmets and connoisseurs alike with its striking golden tips. A bright and beautiful wake-up call, this hidden gem indulges the palate with rich, malty waves of dark chocolate and caramel.

China's southwestern province of Yunnan, situated "south of the clouds," is one of the said regions of origin of the tea tree. Home to the large-leafed camellia sinensis assamica, it is these buds and tender leaves that are processed entirely by hand in early spring to produce an exceptional black tea variety – famous for its natural honey-sweetness and its gilded beauty. Picked at altitudes of up to 2100 m (6900 ft.), the golden tips not only boast an extra-high content of amino acids and invigorating caffeine, but also delight connoisseurs and gourmets alike with rich, malty waves of dark chocolate and caramel.

Our Jasmine Dian Hong Black is a "fresh" tea made to local customs and a real treat. Our Yunnan Gold is a high grade of Dian Hong tea from Yunnan. Different from other Dian Hong teas, this version contains lots of golden tips, brewing a golden orange cup with raw honey flavour. An excellent alternative to the Keemun of Anhui and Lapsang Souchong of Fujian with a highly distinctive taste. High-grade golden tip varietal leaves were processed to a black tea and held for fresh jasmine flower scenting. As jasmine is so popular, we felt it may be time to bring this tea in once again. The black tea was grown in the mountains in Yunnan Province. The varietal used to make this tea is strong in body & slow growing. This results in a rich base black tea taste and it joins very well with jasmine.

It is a "fresh tea", made early in the spring, to local customs and as such offers a glimpse into Chinese tea culture. The jasmine scenting process entailed 5 repetitions to gain its finished aroma. Manufacturer uses organic, traditional farming practices.

Taste profile. It will invigorate one as a good black tea should; it will also calm and soothe as the jasmine flower does so well. Flavor is a balanced blending of black leaf and jasmine, naturally sweet, nuanced and smooth. The finish is clean, fresh and lingering. Without doubt this is one of the best Chinese black teas from Yunnan, with an abundance of beautiful golden tips. Offering a soft, savory taste with an intense honey-sweet and woody aroma, our jasmine Dian Hong is the perfect tea to serve with your favourite dessert.

Brewing Guide: Use 1 teaspoon of tea for every 8 oz. of hot water. Adjust amount to your preferences. The ideal water temperature is between 190-212°F. Brew for 3 to 5 minutes.
