Product Overview
Si Wu Tang originated from ancient daily life experience rather than sudden invention. Originally created in the mid-9th century (Tang Dynasty), the Siwu formula first appeared in a classic medical text by physician Lin Daozhu. Although famous today for women’s health, it was actually first used by ancient doctors to help patients recover from blood loss and physical injuries. In times when nutrition was limited and recovery was slow, people observed that a small group of gentle, well-balanced herbs could provide steady nourishment over time. These four herbs were repeatedly used, refined, and eventually became a fixed combination.
Because the formula is simple, balanced, and suitable for long-term use, Si Wu Tang later became the foundation of many traditional herbal blends. Even today, it is best understood as a “base nourishment” formula rather than a strong or fast-acting remedy.
In modern life, Si Wu Tang is commonly used as a periodic herbal tonic. With irregular schedules, prolonged sitting, and accumulated fatigue, it offers a gentle way to support overall balance. Its focus is not quick results, but gradual comfort and long-term stability.
Herbal Ingredients and Quality Description
Angelica Sinensis (Dang Gui)
Dang Gui is made from whole, intact roots with a naturally rich texture and mild aroma. No scraps or leftover cuts are used. After proper drying, it retains its original character and contributes depth and smoothness to the brew. Traditionally, it is considered a key nourishing herb that helps maintain overall harmony in the formula.
White Peony Root (Bai Shao)
Bai Shao is sliced from dense, high-quality whole roots, not fragments or broken pieces. Its taste is clean and mild, helping balance the overall profile of the blend. It brings a soft, calming character that makes the formula gentle and easy to drink.
Prepared Rehmannia Root (Shu Di Huang)
Shu Di Huang is made from whole roots that undergo proper steaming and drying processes. The texture is soft and moist, with a naturally dark color. It adds body and richness to the decoction, giving the brew a fuller, rounder mouthfeel and a sense of depth.
Ligusticum Chuanxiong (Chuan Xiong)
Chuan Xiong is prepared from clean, complete rhizomes with clear fibers and a pure aroma. It adds lightness and movement to the blend, preventing the formula from feeling heavy. Its presence enhances balance and flow within the overall taste structure.
This formula follows the classic Si Wu Tang ratio. All herbs are whole-material sliced ingredients, not powdered, compressed, or mixed with leftovers. The emphasis is on raw material integrity and consistent quality. The resulting decoction is smooth, naturally aromatic, and gentle on the body.
