Product Overview
Wild Ancient Tree Purple Varietal Yunnan White Tea was made from a rare purple leaf tea cultivar called Zi Juan. Zi Juan is typically used as a black tea cultivar and produces beautiful reddish-purple leaves that are high in anthocyanins, a family of red and blue-hued polyphenols found in fruits like blueberries, blackcurrants, Concord grapes and bilberries. In recent years, Zi Juan has risen in popularity in China as a unique source for these healthful pigments.
This striking white tea from Yunnan gets its deep color and rich autumnal flavors from slow oxidation due to an extended drying time. Wild Ancient Tree Purple Varietal brews a golden infusion. The taste is smooth yet complex. Made from wild yesheng plants from Yunnan Province, the soup is sweet, fruity, rich and a tiny bit spicy.
Brewing Guide: Use about 3-4 grams of tea leaves per cup of water. Let the water cool down to around 190-194°F. Steep the leaves in hot water for 2-3 minutes. Strain and serve. You can re-steep the leaves at least once.
