Description: Dried Black Winter Truffles, produced by simply dehydrating the fresh truffles with no preservatives. Truffles are known as “Diamonds of the Kitchen”. One of the most common truffles is the black truffle. Dried black truffles are held in high esteem in Middle Eastern, French, Spanish, Italian, Greek and Georgian cooking.
We slice & preserve fresh truffles at the peak of the season, when they are at their most flavourful. Black Winter Truffles are usually only available from December to March. However, Truffle Hunters preservation process extends the life of the truffle by as much as 18 months, allowing you to enjoy the incredible taste of truffle at any time of year. They select the highest quality truffles and shave them into 2mm thick slices. The truffle is firm to the bite, followed by a rich & earthy Black Truffle flavour.
How to use: To rehydrate or reconstitute dried mushrooms, place desired amount into a bowl covered with warm water and let dried mushrooms soak for 30 minutes. After the 30 minutes have gone by, gently lift the mushrooms out of the water using a strainer. The mushrooms should be clean, plumped and ready to use.
Cooking with Dried Black Summer Truffles: rehydrate the dried truffles in lukewarm water and use as a condiment, with the rehydration water, preferably on fresh pasta or meat dishes; or rehydrate the truffle slices in a pan with stock, to reawaken its unmistakable aroma. They’re also an excellent ingredient for preparing sauces. The suggested serving dose is 2 g of rehydrated product per person.
