Product Overview
A unique tea made from the purple beauty varietal in the Jingmai region of Yunnan. Wild Puer tree leaves have a dark purple color. This wild tea is naturally dark in color and is heavy in anti-oxidants and catechins. The leaves of this puer come from the "ye sheng" varietal of camellia tea trees which grow wild in tropical Yunnan. Only the younger buds and leaves, those used for making tea, are purple. The older, fully grown leaves usually return to green.
This rare sheng puer tea is made using 95% pure young tea buds from old-growth purple tea trees. These purple buds are plucked during the very earliest harvest of the spring, before the Qing Ming festival on April 5th. These leaves are in very limited supply and are in high demand among pu-erh tea connoisseurs due to their richness and complexity. They have a fresh and fruity flavor similar to other varietals of sun-dried purple sprouts, but they also have a deep and robust aroma and aftertaste which are very reflective of their "ye sheng" origins.
This brew is a very delicate, mellow, tangy, sweet, and clear greyish-purple tea liquor, with a touch of drying bitter aftertaste.
