Product Overview
The Yunnan Ancient Tree Silver Needle Cake is a type of compressed white tea made from the tender buds of ancient tea trees, typically found in Yunnan province, China. Made from the first flush buds of ancient tea trees, which are naturally grown and often more nutrient-rich due to their deep roots and untouched environment. The buds are sun-dried after picking, following traditional white tea processing. The cake shows the delicate, silvery white buds compacted together, with a beautiful sheen of white hair.
When infused, the buds have floral, sweet aromas, with a herbaceous and fresh hay tip. In the cup, the tea is clear, pale yellow with pink reflections. The body is light and silky. Notes of bean sprouts and wildflower honey leave a lingering sweetness on the palate. It develops an extremely honeyed sweetness, a richer aroma, and a smoother, more rounded mouthfeel. The herbaceous scent is always present but never turns into astringency, indeed it gives freshness and fragrance to the liquor. With the latter infusions emerge notes of dried flowers and fruity hints of dehydrated apricots.
This tea combines the unique characteristics of silver needle white tea and the tradition of pressing tea into cakes, making it both a collectible and a drinkable tea.
