Okabe-cho, north of Yaizu City, Shizuoka Prefecture, upstream of the Asahinagawa River, has long been active in producing green tea (gyokuro) by using como.
Along with Uji in Kyoto and Yame in Fukuoka, it is one of the three major production areas of gyokuro and has a reputation for its mellow sweetness and refreshing aroma.
