Product Overview
Grown in the high altitude of China's Wuyi mountains, the Golden Hair monkey is made from a particularly rare varietal. The golden monkey is a very special one among the Wuyi rock teas. It is a variety personally selected by the master of rock tea Yao Yueming. Although it is not a traditional historical famous species in Wuyi, its quality is not inferior to any famous species.
Jin Mao Hou tea has been baked in a traditional way with heat from charcoal blocks. The roasting is done carefully at a low temperature (around 75 degrees Celsius) over hours and re-roasted over the course of many months. The long brown curled leaves are medium in size. They are highly oxidized and roasted, giving them a nutty and toasty aroma offset by a fruit leather sweetness.
Our Jin Mao Hou tea has a golden-brown infusion has a warm and sweet character with a bit of orchid, honey, and with a slight buttery fragrance. The woody smokiness of the roasting is balanced out by the warmed sugar and honey notes that are particularly noticeable in the aftertaste. Don’t forget to smell the lid of your teapot after making a brew – the sweet aroma will be more concentrated there. Later infusions will have a gentler and sweeter, light floral aroma. The tea picks up on different notes with each steep as the water reaches deeper into the leaves. Its sweetness and creamy body, with notes of dried fruits, make it a very pleasant tea with an intense flavor.
Brewing guide: Use 5g of leaves per 5 oz of hot water (100°C). Rinse the leaves once and pour out the liquid. Start steeping by following the steeping time below to make multiple cups of oolong tea.Note the following key features of this tea.
