Kukicha is quite different from other green teas as it is made mainly from the stems and stalks of the tea plant. The stems contain a higher dosage of theanin, which is the amino acid that adds the aroma, the sweet flavor, and the calming effect of tea.
This tea has a beautiful color because of mixed Matcha. Matcha brings out the natural flavors of the ingredients in them. In this flavor-rich blend, the natural sweetness of kukicha is blended with the umami delight of matcha. With the addition of the matcha powder, you will experience a vegetal tea, light-bodied with a deep green color.
It has a nice nutty flavor, sweet umami, and an exquisite aroma. It is deep, yet has a hint of tanginess, and is a delicate harmony of flavor. The main feature of this tea is refreshing and delicious by taste not too bitter.
Brewing Guide: The brewing process is almost the same as in Sencha. 1 tsp of kukicha (5 gr) per cup (60 ml, 2 oz), 80 °C (176 °F) for 1 minute.
