Product Overview

Wu Yuan is the hometown of Chinese green tea, where ridges and peaks rise one after another, ravine stream billow, rains come suitable and winds breeze gentle, and is a region abounds with famous tea in history due to its special climate and soil. Wu Yuan Ming Mei tea grows only in the WuYuan mountains and is harvested in small quantities in the early spring. The rich soil and abundant rainfall make the perfect growing environment for this delicious and fresh tea.

Wuyuan green tea is historically famous. According to the record in Chajing, the only professional and culture-based book created by Lu Yu who was respectably called Saint of Tea, it was ranked top-level green tea in the Tang Dynasty of China. Wuyuan tea was acclaimed to be the treasured in Song Dynasty, and in the dynasties of Ming and Qing, Wuyuan green tea was ranked on the list of royal tributes. In 1915, Wuyuan got the gold medal for Panama-Pacific International Exposition. In 1935, in an authoritative book named All About Tea, Wuyuan green tea was praised to be the best green tea in China. In 1999, Wuyuan green tea won the gold medal at Kunming International Horticultural Exhibition.

This Wu Yuan Xian Zhi green tea was hand-picked using only carefully selected organic young leaves. The finished dry leaves are mostly whole, exhibiting one or two young leaves. The appearance of them is long and slim, the result of skilful processing. Utilising selected leaves results in a particularly delicate tea.

The long green leaves of Wu Yuan Xian Zhi tea produce a pale liquor with a light floral aroma. A brilliantly clean and refreshing tea, it is also smooth and balanced. It is mild with no astringency and it has a light, mouth-watering aftertaste. The profile is vegetal and a little grassy, with a savoury undercurrent. The taste further develops with sweeter notes and light flavours of fruits.

Brewing Guide: We recommend using glass-based or porcelain tea ware. Rinse tea cup and teapot with hot water. Use about 2 grams of tea leaves (1-2 teaspoons) for every 150ml of water. Steep tea leaves in hot water at 70°c (158°F) to 80°c (176°F) for 1 minute for the first and second brewing. Gradually increase steeping time and temperature for subsequent brewing.
