Product Overview

Classic 58 black tea is from Feng Qing, Yun nan province. Yunnan is a region in China known for producing excellent black tea. Yunnan black is famous for its fat golden buds and Yunnan Black Tea has a high concentration of these golden buds. Small leaf and bud sets were hand-picked and expertly processed into this classic style of Dian Hong first mastered by the Feng Qing tea factory in 1958.

The "Classic 58" tea is expertly made into long needle-like leaves that are full of huge golden buds. Our premium grade was picked by hand in early spring. The leaves were withered indoors with ample airflow, then allowed to gently oxidize before being flattened and pan-roasted. The color of classic 58 black tea is reddish brown color. These leaves produce a highly concentrated and full-bodied tea liquor with a very hearty and rich-tasting sappy sweet malty character with chocolate and yam flavor notes. The taste is malty, floral, and honey-sweet.

If you like black tea without too much bitterness, smooth, with a hint of honey flavor, this will be a very good breakfast tea.

Brewing Guide: the water temperature to infuse Fengqing Classic 58 Black Tea should be 90C° or above. We recommend using 3-5 grams on ca. 250ml water and try both ways of preparation below.
The western style, employing a 3-4 minutes infusion period for your first steep, followed by another 5 minutes for a full taste second infusion.
The Chinese Gong Fu style, starting with no more than one minute for a first infusion and producing a sequence of 5-6 infusions by adding ca. ½ minute for each consecutive steep.
