Product Overview

Yiwu Feng Huang Wo (Phoenix Nest) Pu-erh tea originates from the ancient tea gardens of Fenghuangwo Village in Jingxing Town, Mojiang County, Pu’er City, Yunnan Province. This region sits at an altitude of over 1,600 meters, with a warm and humid subtropical highland climate, abundant rainfall, and lush forest coverage—ideal conditions for producing high-quality Pu-erh tea.

The ancient tea gardens of Fenghuangwo boast a history of over 150 years. The earliest plantings are attributed to local settlers during the late Qing Dynasty (circa 1860s). The garden contains over 20,000 ancient tea trees, mostly purebred Yunnan large-leaf variety. These trees grow interspersed with native forests, creating a biodiverse ecosystem of "tea among the forest, forest among the tea," which naturally protects the trees from pests and minimizes human interference.

This particular batch was harvested in the spring of 2008 and processed using traditional sun-drying methods. It has since been stored in clean, dry warehouse conditions (dry storage) for over a decade. The stable environment of dry aging has allowed the tea to transform slowly and cleanly, preserving its natural mountain character while developing rich aged notes. The cake is tightly compressed, and the dry leaves appear dark and glossy with visible silvery buds. Once unwrapped, a pleasant aged fragrance emerges, combining hints of medicinal wood and mellow sweetness.

When brewed, the tea liquor is a clear amber-gold. The taste is smooth, thick, and mellow with minimal bitterness or astringency. A gentle sweetness emerges early, followed by a lingering huigan (returning sweetness) and deep throat sensation. The aroma is a complex mix of aged wood, camphor, and a hint of orchid and forest floor, typical of high-mountain Fenghuangwo material. The scent lingers in the empty cup and deepens with each infusion. This tea is structured, calm, and refined.
