Product Overview

Green rooibos is a less fermented variant of red rooibos. This African infusion is characterized by a lighter flavor. Although it has the same medicinal properties, green rooibos is richer in antioxidants than the red version.

Our light and delicate organic certified Rooibos Green Tea combines the original tradition with ancient Chinese green tea techniques. To obtain a green rooibos, the leaves are dried in the sun and then reduced to coarse pieces. The oxidation process that naturally occurs after harvesting is cut short by the application of heat, allowing the tea to retain its lighter color and subtle taste.

The leaf of green rooibos is lightly fermented. Therefore, it keeps its nutritional value better than red rooibos. According to specialists, for an equivalent weight, green rooibos is richer in antioxidants, vitamin C and mineral salts.

The infusion of green rooibos gives golden reflections. It has a fresh note reminiscent of green tea. Green Rooibos has a naturally sweet taste, with a distinct grassy edge and a smooth, easy-to-enjoy herbal tea flavor profile. Unlike Camelia sinensis green teas, which can be harsh in taste, Green Rooibos has a very low astringency and offers a light, delicious and calming effect. The low tannin content of Green Rooibos makes a lighter-bodied brew.

Unlike green tea, green rooibos is completely caffeine-free. This makes it a safe drink for the evenings, before sleep, or even for some pregnant and breastfeeding women. In fact, rooibos is usually one of the rare teas suitable for infants and children as well.

Brewing Guide: To enjoy this unique tea's mild and aromatic taste, place one teaspoon of tea into a cup of boiling water and allow it to steep for 5-10 minutes, then strain before drinking. The longer you steep, the more flavor and nutrients are released. To extract more nutrients, you may brew it longer while simmering over a low fire. The flavor may also become stronger, but unlike other teas, it will not become bitter.
