Product Overview

Origin: China
Description: Dianhong is a variety of gourmet Chinese black tea sometimes used in various tea blends and grown in the southwestern countryside of China. These delectable amber-hued leaves carry butter-smooth notes of chocolates and dried red dates. Different from common Dianhong, ours has been smoked. What sets it apart from all other teas is its amazing smoky flavor and fragrance. No other tea tastes or smells like this one and this is because it undergoes a special step during processing that makes all the difference. One sip will transport your tastebuds to the paradisical cliff-sides of the Yunnan Province.

To create this, the finished tea is given some extra drying over smoking pine fire, imparting a sweet, clean smoky flavor to the tea. Our smoky Dianhong is very approachable: clean and slightly cool smokiness in the aroma, like menthol. Sweet, refreshing smoky flavor, crisp and edgy. Golden-coppery color in the cup; hasn't been smoked to a jerky. Sweet pine flavor, lightly evaporating finish. It's amazing all the dimensions of 'smoky' you can experience in one, very well made cup of fine Yunan black tea.

Meticulously crafted in Yunnan Province, this exceptional black tea is composed of selected tips, which yield more flavor and aroma than standard leaves. Once infused, the tips brew a smooth, round liquor that can be enjoyed neat or with a drop of milk. Especially notice how its bouquet of dry woods and smoke gives way to a luscious, lingering flavor of honey and molasses.

Brewing Guide: Use 1 teaspoon of tea for every 8 oz. of hot water. Adjust amount to your preferences. The ideal water temperature is between 190-212°F. Brew for 3 to 5 minutes.
