Product Overview
Supreme Keemun Mao Feng is an artisanal black tea handmade in small quantities. 'Keemun' refers to Qimen county in China's Anhui Province, while 'Mao Feng' describes the fine strips the tea has been crafted into, which requires a great deal of skill. This tea is made from a long twisted leaf with fine tips.
The tea was first created in the 19th century and since has become popular for its complex aromas – it is said to even be a favorite of Queen Elizabeth’s. The characteristic slow withering and oxidation of Keemun Mao Feng create wonderfully complex aromas and flavors of stone fruit, smoke and tobacco.
Lower quality Keemun teas are often used as the base for blends of black tea such as Earl Grey or English Breakfast. However, Keemun Royal Mao Feng consists of full unbroken buds and young, tender leaves making this a lighter tea of superior quality and more aromatic than other Keemun black teas. This lovely twisted tea has a sweet aroma of baking chocolate, and a rich, creamy mouthfeel. Fine picking and careful oxidation give this Mao Feng a complex and sophisticated profile. The flavor is bright, sweet, and winey with a silky mouthfeel and a floral vanilla finish. A perfect black tea that also shines with the addition of milk, giving it a creamy butterscotch note.
Brewing Guide: 1 teaspoon per cup, 100ºC, brew for 3-4 minutes.
