Product Overview
Our High Mountain Oolong tea comes from Yunnan, altitude of around 2000 meters. The weather conditions and high altitude environment cause the aromatic properties to be very different from other teas. As the environment gets warmer during spring, with a high amount of sunlight and rainwater, The plant produces tea leaves that are lighter and tender compared to Winter tea.
The tea was harvested in spring. The leaves are tightly twisted and heavily fermented at around 75%. The tea was roasted for 24 hours in low heat. This is to ensure that you can taste the roasting aroma of the tea yet retain the refreshing feel of the spring tea. This spring tea has a light roasting aroma with a sweet aftertaste. Spring tea is less strong, but more refreshing and a very beautiful fragrance scent that is unable to describe.
Sweet Roasted Yunnan Oolong appears as tightly rolled, shiny and brown dry leaves with an aroma of roasted honey nuts and bready. In its taste fruity-floral tones also compete with a smack of fried bread crust. Warm leaves release aromas of toasted almonds, warm stone fruit and a soft floral note. The soup is the color of honey and has an apricot sweetness that lingers after each sip. There is an obvious sweet, natural honey flavor throughout the cup but there is fruity background. The finish carries a light aftertaste of toasted almonds. There is no astringency with this tea.
Brewing Guide:
Grandpa Style: Take a big mug and fill the bottom up with tea leaves of choice. (There is no specific ratio. You will learn of the right ratio for you along the way). Pour boiling water over the leaves. You may choose to cover the cup with a lid to allow for the tea to brew without any heat escaping. Drink the tea when it has cooled enough for you not to get burned. If you prefer a stronger tea let it brew for longer. Repeat until the tea starts to lose flavor.
Mug: 6g tea in 350ml 95°C water. Steep for 3 minutes. Drink and add hot water as desired. Adjust to taste. A longer steep brings out more of the flavor. Remember to make multiple infusions as oolongs tend to improve in flavor in subsequent infusions.
Cold Brew: Use 5g of tea per liter of water. Brew tea at room temperature for 2-3 hours, and enjoy. Or you can put your cold brew bottle in the fridge to brew overnight and be ready to drink the next day.
